COVENANT UNIVERSITY PLEDGES TO SUPPORT OTA LOCAL GOVERNMENT DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES

 The Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, has pledged the University’s support for the development initiatives of the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, aimed at impacting lives and improving the general well being of the people Professor Adebayo gave the promise recently at a meeting with members of the Transition Committee of the council, who were on a courtesy visit to the University’s Management. Professor Adebayo called for the redefinition of politics and governance to feature only those with a heart of sacrifice and disposition to altruism. He assured the visiting team of the University’s readiness to partner with them in deciding appropriate training towards building the council’s capacity. UNKNOWN GUNMEN ATTACK IN AKOKO NORTH WEST, ONDO STATE

 Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have created tension in Ikaram Akoko, in Akoko North West council area of Ondo State, following the abduction of two residents of the community including a graduate, identified as Gbodi. It was gathered that the two victims were abducted within 24 hours in the community while the abductors of one of the victims demanded N10m to secure the freedom of the victim. Gbodi, the HND graduate, was abducted along Okeagbe Ikaram highway while returning from his farm which is few kilometres from his residence, Ikaram, the other victim was kidnapped very close to where some construction workers were abducted recently along Ikaram/Akunu highway. MODAKEKE SPOKESPERSON SPEAKS ON THE ISSUE OF THE COMMUNAL CLASH WITH ILE-IFE

  Modakeke community, in Osun State, has refuted news of communal clash between its people and indigenes of Ile-Ife, saying the report on the social media is fake. A spokesperson for the community, Venerable Debo Babalola while speaking with journalists on Monday said it was a case of armed robbery blown out of proportion. There was palpable tension in the two towns early hours on Monday over the alleged purported communal clash. Residents of Alaro in Modakeke, a boundary community with Ajebamidele, Ile-Ife were scampering for safety over false alarm that the Ife’s have launched an attack on indigenes of Modakeke. However, it was gathered that the sporadic gunshots heard in the early morning was an armed robbery attack on the community contrary to rumours of communal clash trending on social media platforms.   A rural area is an open swath of land that has few homes or other buildings, not very many people and their homes and businesses are located very close to one another. A rural area also called countryside is a geographic area that is located outside towns and cities. In rural settlements, people are bound together by beliefs, language, values and norms and they are subject to a constituted authority e.g. baale, obi, emir etc.   Typical rural areas have a low population density and small settlements. Agricultural areas, forests etc. commonly comes under the rural settlement. A typical rural area has some characteristics and features that distinguish it from a city or an urban area. These characteristics are what make a rural area what it is.
